What is LienCode?

LienCode is a web-based system of security for lienholders utilizing a unique, patentable system to safeguard legal encumbrances on real property such as liens and deeds of trust. LienCode registration protects the lienholder from fraudulent releases of liens.

Isn’t there currently a system in place to prevent fraud in real estate transactions?

No, the system operates today much the same way it did since before the American Revolution in 1776. The system of registering and releasing liens and transferring real estate is essentially “on your honor.” The register of deeds, which is the government registration office located in each county, is simply a repository of documents. It examines certain documents for certain technical requirements, none of which include examining the documents for authenticity.

Do we need to purchase software to use LienCode?

No, LienCode’s web-based platform does not require the purchase of software.

Is LienCode secure?
Yes, LienCode is a secure site. The administration of the site includes the use of investigators who confirm the identities of those who are permitted to utilize the site to register and release liens and other encumbrances.

Can we make money using LienCode?

Yes, LienCode shares revenue with lienholders, usually 25 percent of the transaction fee. You will receive a monthly report of all of your transactions as well as your revenue share.

What if we use LienCode and one of our liens is fraudulently released?

This will not happen. However, in the event that it were to happen, LienCode is insured for such occurrences.
